Movie theater owners are using a new marketing technique to convince moviegoers to spend money on cheap vacation movies.
The idea behind this marketing strategy is to show off the many ways that a family can enjoy a holiday trip, like a trip to a Disney theme park or a weekend getaway to a tropical vacation spot.
“If you’re going to get away, you can buy a $500 car, a $300 house, a house that you’ve owned for the last year, a boat, and a boat that you have owned for a year and a half,” said Joe Koval, a partner at marketing firm Koval Communications.
“But if you have a vacation rental, you’re getting a discount.”
Koval says these cheap vacation rental discounts are an effective way to draw customers to theaters.
The strategy is called the “buy low, sell high” model.
“You’re looking for the most affordable vacation rental packages and you’re finding them all over the country,” Koval said.
“That’s a strategy that we’ve used in the past, but not to the same extent.”
Kollar’s and other theater owners in the industry are trying to sell their tickets to people who aren’t really looking for cheap vacation rentals, Koval added.
The goal is to get people to go to the movies.
Koval’s marketing firm specializes in low-cost vacation rentals.
Kollar said this tactic is used by many theater owners to lure people to their theaters.
“When you go to a movie theater and you buy a ticket, the theater is paying for it,” Kollar said.
The theater is offering a great deal and people are looking for that bargain.
“But there are a lot of people who would not necessarily want to buy the ticket,” he said.
Kollys theater, which opened in 2008, offers a variety of vacation rentals and also offers an extensive selection of holiday movies.
In 2016, Kollys reported that its movie rental business had grown by $500 million in the last four years.
In 2017, Kollar reported that the company had $1.7 billion in annual revenues.
Kolob’s, based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, also offers a wide range of holiday rental packages, including a family vacation package that includes a $1,500 house and a $250 car, plus other benefits.
In 2018, Koller said, it was the No. 1 movie rental company in the United States.
Koller’s is also a major player in the country’s holiday travel industry.
In 2018, it reported that it had more than $1 billion in revenue.
Kolin’s, a theater chain in Indianapolis, Indiana, is also using the holiday vacation discount strategy to lure guests to its theaters.
Kolkin’s recently opened a new $2,500-per-person holiday vacation rental program in its theaters, which are now offered through November.
Kolandin’s is partnering with a number of partners to give its guests discounts on some of its holiday rentals.
The company has offered this discount program since December.
Kopler’s in Dallas, Texas, is using the discount holiday rental program to get visitors to its venues to spend time with their family.
Kopler reported that this program had about 2,000 guests spend time in its stores in November.
In addition to offering discounted holiday rentals, the company also offers some special promotions.
In December, for example, Koplers holiday rental package included $5,000 for an all-inclusive trip to the Grand Canyon.
That trip includes a helicopter trip to Utah, an overnight stay in a canyon, and access to a spa and other amenities.
“We’re always looking for ways to give people the best value in our movies,” Koplin said.
